1974 Corvette Stingray was a car that my late father drove around as his his street Rod. I say this based on the fact he had been in the drag racing scene since the late 50 ‘s .
In early 2018, he sold off his last competitive drag car and we decided to make his Corvette our little project, something to keep him busy in the shop, while he began his retirement years.
We started on the engine package and we kept the manual transmission that came originally with the car. 74 was the last year of the 454 engine, so we started with that crank assembly . We decided to update the 4 speed with a Richmond Super T -10 transmission as well a Hydraulic clutch to make it more comfortable to drive.
The car has been completely reborn from new glass to complete rebuild, including interior, braking systems, and electrical .
During our span of many years of racing, we promoted our cars at many shows and different high school events. Our message was always
If you think your car is fast, take it to the track! Speed kills!
We wanted to spread the message, hearing of the countless accidents and issues around the street racing scene.
My Father has since passed in late 2018 and I have recently finished off the Vette. I am always tweeking the car and continuing to promote the cause. Crichton Racing is no longer, but the memories and the message will be around for years to come.
